The Road to Moroccan Design ......

Morocco - Where to begin?!?
After all, it's not only the grandaddy of much inspiration, but also a Design Style that
has been insanely fashionable these past few years. My goal this time around is
to hopefully provide some new or renewed inspiration.
Ikats and Susanis will always be beautiful
but there is so, so much more to this incredible country.

So, let's start this journey with a little Hope and Crosby.....

A Riad is a typical Home or Hotel (any size - most are very small) with an interior garden.  Many Riads are amazing - which is one of the reasons this post is so long!
The Riad La Maison Rouge

A shot of Suzy Parker from the late 1950's on a Moroccan Wedding Blanket.
I absolutely love these - they're just so so chic!

The Riad La Mamounia
Another fantastic vintage photo from the 1930's.

The Riad Fes
Color saturation at the Souk where you'll find
unbelievable collections of babouches and beaded Jewelry!

The colors of this modern table so clearly could be Moroccan inspired, and the silhoutte, easily an interpretation of the traditional brass tray on stand.

Why not try turkish towels instead of terry?  They're highly absorbent and
beautiful to boot!  These are from "Scents and Feel"
